UGC Refund Policy

How does the UGC fee refund policy work if I cancel my admission?

Updated for the 2026-2027 Academic Session • Cancelation Framework

The University Grants Commission (UGC) mandates a strict, tiered refund architecture that all recognized higher education institutions in India must follow if a student formally requests a cancellation or withdrawal.

The Five-Tier Refund Percentage Slab

The percentage of fees refunded depends completely on the timeline of the formal written withdrawal request relative to the formally notified last date of admission:

  • 100% Refund: Request submitted 15 days or more before the formally notified last date of admission. (The college can only deduct a maximum processing fee of ₹1,000).
  • 90% Refund: Request submitted less than 15 days before the formally notified last date of admission.
  • 80% Refund: Request submitted up to 15 days after the formally notified last date of admission.
  • 50% Refund: Request submitted between 16 and 30 days after the formally notified last date of admission.
  • 0% Refund: Request submitted more than 30 days after the formally notified last date of admission.

Applicability of the Policy

This policy applies to all component fees, including tuition fees, laboratory fees, and campus development funds. It does not apply to non-refundable caution deposits, which must be returned in full regardless of the timeline.
